Goodwill is a non-profit organization that provides services for people with disabilities and other disadvantages to help them overcome barriers to employment and independence. These services are designed to help
individuals transition into the community and become self-supporting
independent members of our society.

Career Development: Goodwill provides career assessment, job coaching, job placement and employment retention for people with disabilities and other disadvantages.
The Career Development department is also launching its Family Strengthening Initiative, which focuses on the overall well being of the family and not just the needs of the individual seeking our services. In 2006, the Career Development department served over 3,000 individuals in our community!
Housing: Goodwill has been providing low-income housing for people with physical disabilities since 1997. In 2005, Goodwill opened it’s first apartment complex for low-income seniors 62 years and older. Goodwill has in the works
at least three other apartment complexes planned between 2007 and 2008. All current apartments are filled to capacity with a 2 year waiting list!
L.I.F.E. Academy Charter Middle and High School-A free charter school
for youth and young adults ages 11-22. The school provides multi-sensory individualized programs designed to successfully transition youth and young
adults who are developmentally disabled into the workforce. The school focuses on academic, vocational and life skills for the students. All students graduating from LIFE Academy are guaranteed a job after graduation!
Four Wheels For Work: A program that provides vehicle assistance for individuals who are employed or who are seeking employment and is
experiencing a transportation barrier. In 2006 alone, Goodwill placed over 26 people in affordable reliable transportation they can call their own. The FWFW program works in conjunction with Goodwill’s successful Auto Donation Center located on Fowler Street in Fort Myers.
Retail: Goodwill has 24 retail and donation centers throughout our five county area of Southwest Florida. 95% of revenue made in our stores supports
Goodwill’s programs and services. In addition to generating revenue for employment and training programs, Goodwill stores are retail-training facilities
that provide employment and career advancement opportunities for people with disabilities and other disadvantages.
