Do's and Dont's of Donations

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida follows regulations set
forth by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
for the re-sale of goods.

Please Do:

• Donate During Store Hours
• Wash or dry-clean clothing.
• Test electrical equipment and battery-operated items.
• Include all pieces and parts to children's games and toys.

Please Do NOT:

• Leave items unattended outside a collection center.
• Donate broken or soiled items.
• Give items that have been recalled, banned, or do not meet current safety standards.

We gladly accept clean, usable:

Clothing & Outerwear: Men’s, women’s children’s & infants, costumes, outerwear (all seasons)

Accessories: Jewelry, belts, shoes, handbags, hats, gloves, scarves, ties.

Linens/Textiles: Blankets, sheets, towels, curtains, draperies,
area/throw rugs, fabric, sewing supplies, notions.

Housewares: Dishes, glassware, flatware, cookware (pots, pans, etc.),
baskets, wicker-ware, tin, pictures, frames, knick-knacks.

Toys (with all parts and pieces): Stuffed animals, bikes

Furniture (sellable condition only): Cabinets, bureaus, chests,
nightstands, kitchen tables, bedroom sets, dining room sets, chairs, sofas, bookcases, etc.

Media: Records, tapes, CD’s, video games, books (Excluding textbooks, encyclopedias, Reader’s Digest condensed books).

Electronics (working condition w/all parts): Portable TV’s, stereos, small kitchen appliances, lamps, fans (CPSC approved), vacuum cleaners.

Computers (in working condition): PC’s (Pentium 3 or newer class), Macintosh (newer models only), printers, scanners, zip drives, and software.

We CANNOT accept:

Large appliances, building materials, carpet, lawnmowers,
lawn trimmers, auto parts.
Furniture with parts that are broken, worn, torn, or missing.
Newspapers, magazines, textbooks, encyclopedias,
Readers’ Digest books.
Excessively large or bulky items: pianos, organs, waterbeds,
sofa beds.
Items that are wet, mildewed, rusty, or are flammable.
Items that have been recalled, or that do not conform
to Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards.
