Four Wheels For Work
Lack of reliable transportation can be a barrier to employment and independence for many people. Four Wheels For Work is a program that makes it possible for low-income working individuals to obtain reliable transportation and become more self-sufficient. People who are currently employed and reside in Lee County are eligible for this program.
In 2012, the Four Wheels For Work program allowed 10 Lee County residents to purchase an affordable and reliable used car.
To be entered into this program, potential applicants will be required to complete an application and budget sheet which will be reviewed by a committee. If approved, the applicant must complete required classes in money management, safe driving, and vehicle maintenance. These classes are offered free of charge. Once a vehicle is available, it will be placed with an eligible recipient, who is responsible for small monthly payments, as well as vehicle insurance.
