Job Title: Director of Career Development Services
POSITION SUMMARY:
The director’s primary role is to achieve our mission through the development of a new partnership between team members and the facility that is consistent with the facility’s mission and goals. This position is accountable for day to day management of the activities of the Career Development Services Department to assure proper utilization of available resources and continuous quality improvement. The director will be responsible for overseeing the development of the Career Development Services and provide direct services as needed.
PREREQUISITE SKILLS:
- Knowledge of and ability to apply facility’s philosophy, principles and technology.
- Ability to demonstrate, and provide examples of, continuous personal development and improvement in each of the essential functions listed in the forgoing section.
- Familiarity with budgeting principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of rehabilitation functions.
- The ability to manage the employees associated with the career development department.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to make independent decisions after gathering information from internal and external sources.
- A customer-focused attitude.
PREREQUISITE EXPERIENCE:
- Masters level degree in the field of rehabilitation or healthcare related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years management experience in related field, with minimum two years at leadership level.
- Very strong skills and demonstrated competencies in at least the following areas:
- Leadership, management, facilitation of diverse groups encountered in a complex environment.
- Problem solving, financial, quality and rehabilitation.

Job Title: Vice President of Retail Operations
JOB SUMMARY:
General:
Within the authority assigned by the President, coordinates the activities of the donated goods program, including transportation, operations/production, retail sales, and salvage. Directs, plans, controls and evaluates the activities of these departments to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness within budgetary guidelines.
- Participate in Senior Staff activities including developing and monitoring organizational objectives.
- Establish and maintain management controls sufficient to ensure the protection of organization assets.
- Responsible for monitoring quantity and quality of incoming goods, collection activities and retail sales merchandise mix in order to maximize sales and income opportunities.
- Responsible for identifying and communicating problems and opportunities. Adopting appropriate and timely action.
- Submit and manage budgets relative to the capital and operational needs of the Retail Division.
- Oversees and evaluates the professional development of managers within the retail division.
- Responsible for the management of information within the Retail division and the timely submission of reports relative to that information.
- Define and recommend objectives in each area of responsibility.
Transportation/ Operations:
Supervises and assists the Director of Facilities Operations to:
- Manage a program for the physical acquisition of donated goods that supports long-range retail growth plans.
- Ensure systematic procedures are followed for the maintenance and safety of all equipment and vehicles.
- Maintain collection reports concerning donated materials.
- Ensure that production standards are met for each department.
- Oversee activities to ensure goods are delivered to all locations in accordance with individual retail needs.
- Coordinate the activities of clients assigned to the Operations Department in conjunction with the Career Development Department to achieve success in overcoming employment barriers.
- Collaborate and partner with other departments in establishing and carrying out esponsibilities.
- Maintain a safe, productive, organized and neat operations area.
Retail Sales:
Supervises as well as works with the Retail District Managers to:
- Responsible for reviewing all retail sales data and initiate appropriate action to maintain sales in accordance with annual goals/ sales projections.
- Develops an organization within which the sales function is to be carried out, including sales goals and strategies.
- Coordinates with other departments in working toward common goals of the agency.
- Coordinates with other departments to develop and implement an ongoing marketing effort.
- Maintains customer friendly environment.
- Achieve high operational standards in stores.
- Monitors sales and expenses to achieve fiscal goals.
- Strong store operational skills.
- Manage planned store growth based on acceptable business practice.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS;
Requires Bachelors’ Degree in management, business administration, or related field and at least five years of management experience. Previous experience with Goodwill or similar thrift retailer preferred. Should possess the interest, desire and character that blend organizational and service objectives within the Goodwill Retail program and mission. Sound administrative skills, well developed management skills; principles and people. Proven ability to train and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth. Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities. Participative management style and advocates team concept. Well developed interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities. Results oriented with ability to balance other business considerations.
