U.S. President Bush Proclaims May 4–10 Goodwill Industries Week
As previously reported in GoodwillTODAY, the annual celebration of Goodwill Industries Week began yesterday, May 4, and will continue through May 10. Traditionally, Goodwills use this week to bring attention to the mission, feature the services and resources they provide to their local communities, and acknowledge the contributions of local board, staff and program participants.
On May 2, Goodwill Industries International received a Presidential Proclamation from U.S. President George W. Bush (R) declaring May 4–10 Goodwill Industries Week. Earlier this year, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper declared the week official in Canada.
In 2007, Goodwills celebrated the week with a variety of community events and outreach activities, including annual awards banquets, store grand openings, customer and donor appreciation activities, fashion shows and donation drives, events for employees and program participants, and media outreach activities. |
